Hastedesk vs. Gorgias vs. Tidio: an honest comparison
September 29, 2026 · 6 min read
Gorgias and Tidio are both well-established, and if you're evaluating Hastedesk against them, you deserve a straight answer about where it actually fits — not a list engineered to make Hastedesk look best on paper. Software changes fast, so treat the specifics below as a snapshot, and check each vendor's own site for their current feature list and pricing before deciding.
The short version
- Gorgias is a full multi-channel helpdesk — email, chat, and social/SMS channels in one ticketing console, built for a team of human agents working with macros and automation rules, with AI layered on top.
- Tidio is a live-chat and chatbot platform that works across many kinds of websites, not just Shopify, with an AI agent (Lyro) available as part of it.
- Hastedesk is built specifically for Shopify stores, AI-first rather than AI-added-on: it reads your real Shopify data (orders, inventory, policies) to answer and take action, rather than starting from a general-purpose chat widget.
Where Hastedesk is different
- Shopify-native order actions. Order tracking, cancellations, returns, exchanges, and address changes all read and write real Shopify order and inventory data — not just a chat layer that then hands the actual work to a human.
- A knowledge base that builds itself. Hastedesk can read your store's own pages and policies and turn them into structured knowledge the AI answers from, rather than starting from a blank macro library you write by hand.
- A shared inbox with real assignment. Every conversation is visible to your whole team by default, with an “assigned to me” view and a dropdown to hand a conversation to a specific teammate — several people can work the same inbox without stepping on each other.
- An MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT. You can connect your own AI assistant directly to your conversations, knowledge base, and AI instructions — read your last conversations, spot patterns, and update your AI's guidance, from inside Claude or ChatGPT rather than a separate dashboard. Neither Gorgias nor Tidio currently offers this.
Where Hastedesk doesn't yet compete
This is the part comparison pages usually leave out, so here it is plainly:
- No native SMS, WhatsApp, or Instagram/Facebook channels. Gorgias and Tidio both support these as first-class channels; Hastedesk currently covers chat and email.
- No macro or canned-response library. Human agents replying manually write each reply from scratch — there's no library of pre-written responses to insert, the way Gorgias' macros work.
- Not built for a large support floor. The shared inbox and assignment work well for a small team, but there's no full ticketing console (SLAs, queues, satisfaction ratings, agent performance reporting) for running a larger multi-agent operation the way Gorgias is.
- A smaller integration ecosystem. Gorgias in particular has a long list of direct integrations (loyalty, subscriptions, reviews, marketing tools) built up over years; Hastedesk's integration surface is narrower today.
How to actually decide
If you run a Shopify store, want order questions, cancellations, returns, and exchanges handled with real Shopify data instead of a general-purpose chatbot, and a small team working a shared inbox is enough, Hastedesk is built for exactly that case. If you need SMS/social channels, macros for a larger team of agents, or a deep bench of existing integrations, Gorgias is the more mature choice today, and Tidio is worth a look if you want a lighter, non-Shopify-specific live-chat tool across a wider range of platforms.
